February Art Newsletter

Back to work, with upgrades.

Hello friends !

It feels quite strange to write this newsletter on a brand new platform, but I’m very happy about this change !
I’ve also acquired a scanner, which dramatically improves the quality of a lot of images shown here.

Turns out, there’s quite a lot to go through, so buckle up !✨

Cool game concept art

I was very fortunate to receive a bunch of the artwork I did last year at Blackbird Interactive approved for portfolio use, so I spent a big chunk of time working on that.
There was a huge amount of images, so here are, in no particular order, a small selection of my favourites.

Gas giant Maelstrom - Digital

Environment diorama - Digital

Creatures - Digital

More creatures - Digital

Character sketches - Digital

Scene sketch - Digital

It was VERY hard to pick a top five as there was a lot and this project was quite dear to my little heart. If this piques your curioristy, feel free to check out the rest here : Artstation portfolio.

More Cool game art

I designed a goblin and some backgrounds for a friend’s game, and that was a lot of fun !

Digital

Digital

Here’s what the game currently looks like !

Pre-alpha footage. All gameplay subject to change.

Buffalo

I’m reading American Gods, so I had to draw something from it ! This and some of the incoming works are now available on my Redbubble shop.

Ink sketch and digital colour

Butterflies

I’ve been wanting to write some micro-fiction to go with some of my drawings, and this new platform has some very cool functions that allows me to do just that ! You can read it here.

Pencil sketch, digital colors.

Sketches

Still trying to finish some old sketchbooks, not quite there yet but I’ve had some additions I’m quite happy about, like these fishies mermaids waiting for the bus. There are some funny accidental blurs due to last month’s accidental soak.

Pens on paper

I’ve added some colour to these guys, which are now available as a sticker sheet.

Pen lineart and digital colours.

Finally finished this character ! There’s a little story that goes with it, which I might post later on, eventually.

And some more life drawing !

Pen and pencil on paper - 5’ & 15’ poses

What else ?

I’m getting a better hang of Clip Studio Paint (I moved away from Photoshop last September, in case I didn’t mention it here), which kind of prompted some interesting (and refreshing) changes in my art. Each piece takes me more time as I try out and sort the bajillion brushes I had saved from Photoshop. Keeps me on my toes.

I also wanted to make a little Lunar New Year sketch but I barely got started, so it’ll come next month, I guess.

What’s next ?

I have not quite hammered out March’s projects yet, but I’m planning on picking up the Emergency Shelter project sketches back up, as well as furnishing a fresh website.
A lot of my time is still taken up by looking for jobs and/or finding some freelancing, so not as much art as I’d like gets done these days (and the ideas still pile up). Luckily, there’s still enough to make this edition a few meters long 👿

Inspirations

That’s pretty much it for this edition ! I’m excited about the new tools Beehiiv offers and the projects I want to tackle this year.

As usual, feel free to reply with your thoughts, questions, or just to say hi !

If you liked this new and shiny version, share it with your friends, colleagues, grandmas 🙂

See you next month !
