Rummaging the attic
A little trip in the archives
Hello friends !
We’ve successfully moved to foresty and peaceful Burquitlam, and as the heat of summer is beating down and we’re settling in the new place, I haven’t had a lot of spare time/energy for much art (although that’s slowly coming back up).

Accurate depiction of how I feel these days.
So, as moving always unearths some forgotten things, I’ve scanned a little collection of older works for this edition!
Markers era
I used to love alcohol markers and thought that was gonna be my medium of choice. As the years passed, I haven’t touched them much and fell in love with regular felt pens and my beloved highlighters. As I was assembling my collection to gift to one of my best friends, I found some old marker sketches that held up the test of time quite well.

Starting off with the most advanced one I ever made!

Those two are still holding up quite well and I’ll probably try to work on them again and make something out of them.

The rare occasion of me taking on a trend/challenge/meme…

Some thumbnails from my final film in animation school.

Trying to practice some sci-fi storefronts.
Spaceship practice

I really like these ones!

Some whale shark inspired attempts.

More whale shark inspo!

Beetles perhaps?

We love some good orange accents.
Along with basing my ship sketches on animals, I also tried to come up with some using a specific shape throughout for fun/practice.

Robots!
A bunch of cool metallic guys sometimes wearing clothes.

Paints and more oldies
A few more older sketches from the archives!

Very Howl’s Moving Castle inspired, with markers on a post-it note.

Another marker on post-it note sketch!
Some early gouache experiments!
Topic
Some current sketches! I’ve slowly been getting back into it and played around with enhancing some sketches with colour.
Digital colour on a fountain pen sketch.
Digital colour on a pencil sketch.
This one gave me a bit of a hard time but I’m really happy with the result! I’ve uploaded the process video on my TikTok if you’re curious. And it’s now a sticker too!

Shop update!
I finally uploaded my prints on the Ko-Fi shop, and added the hare sticker! Each order will now come with a bookmark :)

Thanks to my partner for holding the prints for display 😽

What else ?
I’ve personalised my favourite cap using my cat as a model, I highly recommend it! I’ve been getting very into customizing my clothes and accessories.
I’m trying (again) to post more things on socials, focusing on TikTok at the moment. If you’re on the platform, give me a follow @chloecasheww !

What’s next ?
Settling down and getting back into some arts! The ideas are starting to simmer again and I’m excited to fill up some more sketchbooks, play with paint again and enjoy the summer (but really just waiting for fall).
My next printing order will be for some postcards! With that I feel like I’m gonna be ready to try and show up at some art markets ✨
Inspirations
I’m playing Cast’n’Chill and it’s absolutely gorgeous!
I’ve been listening to Nostalgia Ultra a lot while working.
The wildlife and scenery around us both at home and at work has been very inspiring too! I see hawks pretty much every work day, and the forest is full of cool slugs.
That’s it for now! I’m not sure what the frequency will be for the rest of the year, but I’ve been scanning away at drawings I have yet to share and still filling up pages, so I'm aiming to be back on a monthly basis and even have things ready in advance, which is a big step up!
Have fun and don’t forget to apply and reapply sunscreen! ☀️
See you next month,
Chloé
